Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect:
your email address
your password, which is stored only in hashed form; we can never see it
your first and last name
Your memorization and app data
To save your progress and sync it across your devices, we store:
verses you mark as memorized, with dates and your review schedule
your memorization goals and when you complete them
bookmarks, including any notes you write on them
daily dhikr counts (how many times you said each dhikr on each day)
your app settings, such as theme, text size, reciter, translations and tafsir
Subscription information
Hifth is a paid subscription. Purchases are handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), and we never receive your payment card or bank details. We use a service called RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives:
an account identifier, which links your subscription to your Hifth account
your purchase and subscription history, such as the plan, trial, renewals and cancellations
basic device information, such as device type, operating system version and app version
Location (prayer times and qibla)
If you allow location access, Hifth uses your approximate location to calculate prayer times and the qibla direction:
Prayer times and the qibla direction are calculated on your device.
Your coordinates are saved only on your device, so prayer notifications can be scheduled. They are not sent to our servers.
To show your city name, your device’s operating system (Apple or Google) may look up the place name for your coordinates.
You can turn location access off at any time in your device settings. Prayer times and qibla won’t work without it, but the rest of Hifth will.
Information stored only on your device
Some information never leaves your phone, including:
your last reading position
your prayer and notification preferences
your current dhikr counter
Prayer and reminder notifications are scheduled on your device. We do not use push notification services.
Technical information
Like any internet service, the services Hifth connects to may receive your IP address and basic request information when the app loads content. These services are listed in section 3.
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools.
How we use your information
We use your information only to:
create and secure your account, sign you in, and let you reset your password
save your memorization progress, goals, bookmarks, dhikr counts and settings, and sync them across your devices
show your progress, streaks and charts
check your subscription so we know whether to unlock the app
calculate prayer times and qibla, and schedule the notifications you turn on
answer your support requests
meet our legal obligations, and prevent fraud or abuse
How long we keep it
We keep your account and app data for as long as you have a Hifth account. When you delete your account, we delete your account and app data from our database. Copies in backups may remain for a short period until they are overwritten.
Subscription and purchase records may be kept longer where needed for tax, accounting or legal reasons.
Your choices and rights
Access and correct: you can see and change your name, progress, goals, bookmarks and settings in the app.
Delete your account: go to Settings → Delete account in the app, or email dnawebstudiollc@gmail.com. This permanently deletes your account and app data.
Cancel your subscription: deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; Apple and Google manage those. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. You can also open these from Settings → Hifth Premium in the app.
Location and notifications: you can turn these on or off at any time in your device settings.
Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, UK or California), you may have additional rights:
to request a copy of your data, or to have it deleted or corrected;
to object to or restrict certain processing;
to complain to your local data protection authority.
To use any of these rights, email dnawebstudiollc@gmail.com. We will respond within the time the law requires.
Legal basis (EU/UK users): we process your information to provide the service you signed up for (performing our contract with you), to meet legal obligations, and, for location, with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Security
We protect your information:
in transit, using encrypted connections (HTTPS);
in our database, using access controls, so each user can access only their own data.
No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you if the law requires it.
International transfers
Our service providers may process your information in the United States or other countries. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
Children
Hifth is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without a parent’s or guardian’s consent. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us at dnawebstudiollc@gmail.com and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will update the effective date above and let you know in the app or by email.
